WORK IN POLO!

JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR MOTIVATED, ENTHUSIASTIC POLO GROOMS AND YARD STAFF

End of season CSC Cup

Each season we employ a number of grooms to support us.

We advertise positions via our Instagram account @csc_polo - follow us for more info.

However, even if we don’t have any positions advertised, we’re always happy to hear from people looking to develop their polo career. You don’t necessarily need experience of working within the sport, although you do need to be an experienced rider with some knowledge of horse care … we can teach you the rest.

So if you are interested in working in polo do give us a call or drop us an email. We won’t lie - it’s hard work, but a lot of fun too. If you want to find out more about working in polo and with us..…. keep reading.

Why we love Kirtlington…the centre of the universe.

Kirtlington and the Polo Club make up what can only be described quite simply as a thriving community. Made up of players, supporters, families and spectators. Who live a wholesome life with passion, care and ambition. With a whole tonne of fun sprinkled on top.

Polo as a sport may look different through the many levels and countries it inhabits but fundamentally it is one of the most close knit communities you can get. Wherever you are in the world, someone will know someone… will welcome you in like a long lost friend… buy you a drink…. lend you a hand. It’s pretty special.

Kirtlington is one of those places. All with the spectacular backdrop of Kirtlington Park with a huge house still waiting for Mr Darcy. If you like that sort of thing then Blenheim Palace is a stately home on steroids and of course we are right next to Oxford. What more could you want? Well Bicester Village is 10 minutes and London is just over an hour's drive to the Westfield Centre and then straight on the underground. Plus we are not that far from other polo clubs… Cirencester, Beaufort, Guards…. Cowdray in 2 hours???

Life at CSC Polo….. In no particular order.

  • We live and breathe polo through the summer and work really hard and it’s fun.

  • We are a team.

  • We have a variety of ponies from patron and pro to green 1st season wildlings.

  • We have really lovely patrons.

  • We are an ambitious yard and we are always looking to improve, learn and develop. So with this comes the opportunity to learn and grow your skills. We love to help people ‘get where they want to go’.

  • Crawford is an umpire and HPA Level 2 Coach. He teaches lessons to clients through out the year.

  • Our yard is based in the heart of the polo club next to grounds 5 and 6, which means some games we can do from our yard.

  • Grounds 1,2,3 and 4 are hackable or a short ride in the horsebox.

  • We mainly play at home but we also go to Cirencester, Beaufort, Rugby, Guards and Cowdray.

  • We have a brand new american barn and its great come rain or shine.

  • Accommodation is on site at the farm.

  • We have worldwide contacts. So when the season is over we can help you find your next adventure. We are proud to support those who have worked for us and take pleasure in helping them find somewhere that is the right fit.

  • We work 6 days a week. Monday is our day off (unless there is a postponed game for weather)

  • We have a fabulous asado area and love to host small and large gatherings throughout the year.

  • We are on the social committee. We get very excited about the Polo Ball.

  • We have a really awesome pub called the Oxford Arms

What sort of work happens through out the week?

  • We communicate through whatsapp with tournament info and the plan each day.

  • We allocate groups of horses/patrons to each groom with some spares.

  • Mondays off….we check and hay the horses

  • Horses all live out in assigned groups in the field and come into the barn each day. They are hayed out in the field and fed out or from the barn.

  • Pro ponies come into stables during the day.

  • Ponies exercise on set in the morning (in appropriate sized groups)

  • Some ponies are ‘singled’ practising their training or getting ready for games

  • Youngsters are schooled and or may go to chukkas at Stud Farm a mile away

  • General yard duties, watering, grooming, checking over and basic veterinary care.

  • Getting ponies ready and washed/groomed tacked up for games, lessons, stick and balling, chukkas, practises and corporate days.

  • Stick and balling/chukkas (for the right person)

  • Games happen through the week but are mostly concentrated on the weekends. With finals on Sunday.

  • Chukkas happen on Wednesday and Saturday. They are relaxed practise games.

  • We mainly play at the club with a few tournaments away.
